Planning the 2003 Grex Anniversary Picnic Mark Unseen   Jun 26 21:09 UTC 2003

It's time to pick a date for the Grex Anniversary Picnic. This picnic
is held every year on a weekend close to the date Grex opened to the
public, which was July 18, 1991.

The traditional location for the picnic is Island Park in Ann Arbor,
where early Grex organizing discussions were held.

The recent traditional date for the picnic has been the Sunday after
the Ann Arbor Art Fair; this year, that would be Sunday, July 20, 2003.

The only possible twist is that this year, M-net has scheduled a
picnic to celebrate its 20th birthday on Saturday, July 19th, the
day before Grex's traditional date. M-net did this on behalf of
a number of out-of-town M-netters who wanted to combine a trip to
the Art Fair with the M-net party.

I suggest that Grex stick with its traditional date and location.
Discuss.

(I think the "traditional" date and location will be just fine.)

I would probably attend both if I could, but I'll be out of town
that weekend. C'est la vie, I spose. It's possible that I'll see
a Grexer/M-Netter or two where I'm going, though.

Anyone from Grex is welcome to come to the M-Net 20th anniversary
party, at Gallup Park on July 19 from 4-7 pm, but the fact that M-Net
is having a party need not affect Grex's plans in any way.

I'll bring the same contribution I always bring, in the years I'm
in town for the Grex picnic: 30 hot dogs, and all the accessories:
buns catsup mustard relish charcoal.
I will endeavor to come up with some tofu dogs for the vegetarians
but I make no promises.

Re #8: There's an apparent deafening lack of interest every year,
but there always seems to be a good turnout nonetheless.

I like fruit or fruit juice. Or salad. It is very generous of you to want
to bring three things. I hope we don't get poured on like last year.

Potato salad, chips, a big thing of water (& cups), a lighter in case Ken
forgets his, etc. - haven't yet decided what to bring myself, though.

I will bring the lighter that eskarina left behind when we were doing
fireworks, as I have no use for it.

Not sure what else I'll be able to bring.
