Bumpter sticker: MY OTHER VEHICLE IS THE MAHAYANA

("Mahayana" means "big boat" in Sanskrit. Mahayana Buddhism is distinguished
by the belief that everyone has the capacity to become enlightened. The
Hinayana (or "little boat") Buddhists believed that only a few lucky people
would every become enlightened.)

Unremarkable (IOW, I don't recall it) tag number, but on the way home from
TOP tonight I saw a DC "Taxation Without Representation" plate on Broadway

I thought it was pretty amusing when Clinton put those plates on the
Presidential limo, knowing Bush would have to take them off again.
(Bush opposes representation for D.C.)

Wait... there are D.C. licence plates that say "Taxation Without
Representation"? These are official plates?

Isn't it though? Especially the presidential limo.....Ground Force One?
Road Force One? When does GW get a presidential pickup truck?

response 14 of 261: Mark Unseen   Jun 25 16:06 UTC 2003

resp:10 Used to be. As I recall, Congress forced the District to stop
making them --- one of those "Do what we say or lose all your funding" things
that prompted the plates in the first place --- but didn't (or couldn't) do
anything about the existing plates, so they're out there, but less common.

Someone from that area may feel free to correct me. Hell, anyone else can
feel free to correct me, too :)

Saw one of those "IF YOU CAN READ THIS, FLIP ME OVER" (upside down)
things on the bumper of a Jeep on Wednesday. The driver was donning
his cammie jacket while I had him in view. (In 90 F weather.)

If I get to stop within earshot of someone with that sticker, I
intend to tell them that I can read upside down and when they want
me to stop flipping.

re 14:
If the DC "Taxation Without Representation" plates have been
discontinued, the DC DMV website doesn't say so:
