Let Me Say a Prayer for You

let me say a prayer for you,
because i may never meet you
and because i have come to love you

since you have restored to me
a faith in the possibilities of goodness,
since you have given me happiness,

knowing i may never be able to thank you,
and that what you have done for me
is personal and perhaps irrelevant to you,

knowing this let me pray that

you have goodness and a wonderful life
that you may be spared the searching and strife
and that the End of Everything may be for you
everything i pray it may be for me

i wish you happiness and possitive experience
and i pray that
my ideal picture of you
will not degrade the real things
i wish for you.

may you continue to your purpose and meaning.

I really like this- it's about the best you have posted here, I think, for
conveying its message in a clear and strong way. Are you satisfied with the
last stanza? Some of the words seem a bit long and abstract/weak for the
clear simplicity of the rest. A good point to make, though.

it might be the only poem that gets to the heart of a lot of things.
