Silent Sleep Images
what does it mean
when you reach a place
where life is a dream?
what can it mean?
Some prelude to a private death?
A silence which signals a solitary sorrow?
i can see chaos coming.
whishfully i watch
hoping it will signify fulfilment
of a personal peace.
The thundering torents of rain
wash my memories away
and all that remains are
meaningless images.
Calmly I face them in my sleep
Creeping forward in my mind
they haunt me like ghosts.
When I awake I forget them
as they fade forever into fantasy.
The cruelness is silent but present.
what does it mean
when your dreams are your life?
what can it mean?
'we live as we dream: alone'

Hm, I think I have a sort of answer to that one (maybe) from a few years
back, but it's in the basement, so remind me later.
I like the balance between the first and last stanzas.
This poem feels like being a kid watching a storm approach while alone in
a quiet house.

Sorry, I can't find the one I was thinking of, but here's something:
I had a dream
I made it mine
Once in my hand
It turned to dust
I held the dust
And it was gold
It blew away
For me to find
And dream anew.
I wrote that in 1980. I think it's a bit juvenile, but kind of sweet.
