She Swallowed All the Cities Up
|

She swallowed all the cities up,
The shining cities, many-hued,
A lesser girl'd have spit them out,
But she did swallow every one.
She crushed the country in her fists,
The spray of rivers soaked her dress,
The powdered meadows caked her form,
Her strength was second but to none.
She tied the sky into a bow
So to her flowing hair adorn,
Had anyone remained to watch
They'd see her carving up the sun.

That's a really awesome poem. Too bad it took someone all the way till
1994 to respond. I hope you haven't given up on this. Otherwise that's
5 minutes down the drain.

This conference tends toward new items for each new posting, rather than the
usual long discussion of an initial statement. Sometimes a new item might be
a piece that was written in response to another, which seems inefficient to
me. Don't worry too much about the details, just enjoy the writing and
share some of your own when you feel like it.

I simply interpreted the lack of response to mean that people were
struck dumb with awe. :)

Which, of course, you've just come to expect as your due, right? <g>

If I'd written something like that I'd have expected people to be
struck dumb with awe. Especially after they found out I'd written
it.
