Actual Gaming: Video Consoles (PS2, XBox, GameCube, GB Advance, ...) Mark Unseen   Sep 16 15:40 UTC 2002

Ok, let's go! This is not a videogames museum, is it? Ok, I want people to
say what do they think about the new gaming experience with all that new video
consoles all around here (Gameboy Advance, Dreamcast, PS2, XBox, GameCube,
etc)... There is a lot of great games, actual or not so, and a lot of great
gaming experience. 3, 2, 1, GO!

Breaking the ice, I own a lot of "powerful" video consoles, my list begins
whit PS2, Dreamcast, Nintendo 64 and so on ;-) There are a really big bunch
of actual games that takes this consoles to its max (GT3 in PS2, SHENMUE 1/2
in Dreamcast, Mario 64 in N64, etc) and much more, but, What do you think
about third parties? Can you imagine Final Fantasy X in XBox or GameCube? And
what about Rogue Leader in PS2? mmm, interesting ;-)

I own all three consoles, GameCube has that "special" place in my heart. With
Eternal Darkness, the entire Resident Evil series, all the Nintendo
franchises, and much more third party support than N64, how can you go wrong?

Franz Dawkins, I just rented Metroid Prime, its hard, but if you were good
at the first Metroids, you should be good at this one to(I sucked at the first
Metroids).

All Next-Gen consoles are cool, but not many people have money to buy all them
;). I bought PS2 and i don't regret it. Games like Devil May Cry, Final
Fantasy X, Rez, Ico, Gran Turismo 3 just wipe me out:). Xbox and Gamecube are
also a good hardware, but i think, tha GC hasn't much games and Xbox sells
so-so. Real WaR will start, when PS3 and Xbox2 will be :)

I am not bashing the halo-box or the Game Cube, but one of the main advantages
of the PS2 is Games,Games Games!!!!!!!!!!. If you whant a virtually
inexaustible archive of games to choose from, then the PS2 is for you.
Considering all of the PSX,Psone, and Ps2 games out there(PSone games are
still being made) you might never run out. If the PS3 is backwards
compatible, then that could easily provide years and years of non stop gaming.
Every true gamer should have a PS2. Those old PSX games are still pretty damn
good even though the graphics may not be as advanced, game play and content
are still the identifiers of wether a game is good or not. The halobox and
the gamecube combined do not come antwhere near that amount of really good
games.

Well, I own an XBOX and software modded it so I can do all kinds of cool stuff
on it, like play emulators for NES, SNES, and even PS. Also, I can stream
internet radio, and play Xbox games straight from the HD (yes, I own the
games, just don't like looking through a pile for certain ones)

hmmm, I don't really remember the ins and outs of X-BOX modification.

Dreamcast was elegant for its time.

resp:7 PS3 is on the horizon now, although Microsoft has already
released their new system (X-Box 360) and Sony will have to struggle to
catch up. I have a feeling it won't be backwards compatible.
