A Michigan Yankee in King George's Court

I'm headed for DC soon. I didn't know a year or so ago that I was going
to be in that city, one way or another, but here I go! I was inspired
to do this because of mcnally's Alaska item. I daresay it won't be as
fascinating as that classic, since we all know what big cities are like
and are familiar with what goes on.
But I though I'd do this anyway, if nothing else, to relay the funny,
interesting, thought-provoking, etc., things I come across, read or
experience, and if any discussions that entertain and inform come from
this, all's well with the world.
I'll try to keep this up from quarter to quarter. I am not under the
assumption that people here are all dying to know how things are going,
but I've been connected to Grex so long, since 1994 in fact, that it's
like family; it might piss you off every once and a while, you might not
see issues the same way, and you might not talk for a while, but you
never completely lose touch.
So that being said, here begins what will be at least seven years in the
District of Columbia . . . or at least working and learning there.

Damn it. I forgot to finish proofreading before I posted. Can I have a
do-over, or does that ploy stop working after you turn 12 or so? ;p

Hell, all I really have to do, if I'm really concerned about it, is
delete this item and repost. :p
I had to look up "mulligan". I thought it might have something to do
with a re-do/do-over, but I wasn't sure. My first thought was that it
may have been an actor in film adaptation of "A Connecticut Yankee in
King Aurthur's Court," staring Bing Crosby.

I got around to reserving the truck today, a 16' monster. So far, I've
got about five people confirmed for this haul, including my dad, and
there's another two or three that may still come along. At this rate, I
will have no problem getting everything down to DC and into the
apartment. My father is paying for the truck rental, and my mother is
taking care of the gas. I'll be feeding everyone. I'm trying to
determine if it's cheaper to pay for gas. This group of us can
certainly eat. I'm not going to go the restaurant route, though. I'm
planning on going deli and putting it all in a cooler, as well as soda,
water and juice. The money will go MUCH further t hat way.
I've also decided to ask my sister's godparents if I can use their
full-sized van. It will make it much easier to transport everyone round
trip, regardless of the number of people that are going to go.
Hopefully they still HAVE it.

[Well, having it in both places will give you more exposure, at least for a
little longer; I think the Summer Agora starts up soon.]
