We took our 1 1/2 year old to Disney Land (in CA) and we were surprised
at how much she and all of us enjoyed it. There are actually a lot
of rides and attractions (like music and other entertainment) that are
fun for toddlers and they allow grown-ups to accompany the kids on most
of the "kiddie" rides, unlike many amusement parks. She was just learning
to talk at the time and Mickey Mouse (she pronounces it "Hick Now") was
one of her first words. Meeting the large costumed characters was a
thrill for her, but I imagine many children would be frightened. We
stayed at a hotel very close to the main gate, and this allowed us to
go back and forth, to allow for naps and eating outside the park, which can be
very expensive.
We took a lot of pictures, which she enjoyed looking at after we got home,
and we bought only a couple of souvenirs, a nice-quality Mickey Mouse doll,
and the obligatory set of Mouse Ears with her name embroidered on the back.
To this day (2 years later_) these are still special keepsakes for her.
Enjoy, but as was said before, don't try to do everything.

It really depends on the kid. At age seven, my parents took me to Disney World
and I fell asleep some of the time and don't really recall anything. But when
my uncle was transered down to Florida, he and my aunt took their six kids to
Disney World, ages 21 months to 12 years and they all had a blast. Maybe it
was because there were so many of them though. I mean, when my parents took me
I was an only child (my sister and I are 9 years apart), and they wanted to
spend time in Epcot too (which I had absolutely no interest in at the time),
so I didn't enjoy it as much. Just a thought.
