In the little city of Croswell, there is a neat little bridge
called "The Mother in Law bridge~. No foolin. It is a little foor bridge
that is suspended over the Black River by two cables. With a little effort
you can make it swing. Many is the hearty soul that has crossed it whilst
it was swingin'. But, all in all, it is a cute little tourist attraction

Directions to Croswell.
US-23 N to I-69 east to M-25 N. Follow M-25 north to the little
town of Lexington (that`s the one with the stoplight) ;) turn left
and proceed 4 miles west to another stoplight. Turn right on N. Howard
Ave and proceed about 1/2 mile. You will then be in Croswell MI.
Those needing directions to the bridge, just ask.

I recall hearing of "Mother-in-Law" this-and-that, elsewhere. However
I can't recall anything specific. "Mother-in-Law" Leap? Where? We crossed
a cable bridge over Sulfur Creek, below Mt. Baker (WA) a couple of weeks
ago. Our daughter intially refused to cross - and ended up running back
and forth in great delight. Do mothers-in-law do that at Croswell?

I really don't know, to tell the truth.
The Black River is deep, about 20 feet at that point, so it is quite
scary in crossing it. I don't know of anyone falling off and drowning.
When I first crossed it, I was scared to bits, (I was about 7) If and
when I cross, The bridge has to be absolutly still. I just hate it when
a bunch of kids gets on it and begin rocking it.
Croswell is a small town. There are 16 churches and 2 bars and 1 teen
hangout. You can probably guess that most young types are swinging that
damn bridge most of the time.
The park on the other side is lovely.

I've been there a number of times as a kid, Jim! We used to have a cottage
just north of "downtown" Lexington, so we've taken side trips to various
places. My grandmother sold the place when I was about 12-13, though, so I
haven't been out there in years and years and years... Thanks for bringing
back some memories! :-)

I spent a lot of great summers in Lexington Heights, actually
it is called Great Lakes Beach, but nonetheless our family has
had the property for now going on 40 yrs. Our place is 4 miles
south of Downtown Lexington.
For almost a year I called 125.5 Ward St Croswell MI 48422 home,
then I moved to the big city... Port Huron ;)

Hmm. I know of one but don't know the name or where it is. But if you
order a 4 lb. steak and finish it in one hour, it's free.

re 4 The bridge is known as "The Mother-in-Law" bridge. Actually there
is a sign above the bridge that says "Be Kind to your Mother in Law"
