Me? Like Celts?? Why do you say that..? Mark Unseen   Sep 29 03:45 UTC 1996

Do you hide the Shortbread when company is around?

Do you place the Enya CD's well out of guest's easy sight?

Does your name have a Mc, Mac, or an O' in it? If not, do you have the
shameful wish that it did?

In short- are you a CLOSET CELTOPHILE?

Don't be ashamed..many of us are, and scientific studies have shown that it
is acttually NORMAL for people to want to kiss the Blarney Stone.

So, tell us about it, get it off your chest- what Celtic perversity are YOU
into?

I love misty gloomy chilly weather. That's about it.

I play my Enya CDs all the time, a piece of my jewelry could be considered
either Volsung or Celtic since the historical accuracy is similar.
Hide Shortbread? NEVER. I love to stay out in Thunderstorms just to get
soaked by the rainwater.

I confess...I bought a Celtic table runner and pin on flight layover in
Shannon Ireland while jetting from the Ukraine one year. And it cost me more
money than I had spent the whole summer in Ukraine...*blushes deeply*

<robh suspects brighn of having a pot of gold somewhere, and starts
following him around>

Well, my name is Henderson, but that's the English form of the
original MacEnruig, which also became "MacKendrick" in modern Scotland.
Does that count as changing my name?

I am most certainly not a closet Celt. I have every Enya cd, look so Irish
that it's dispecable, can't wait 'til graduation so I can backpack around
Ireland on a teacher's salary (hah!), and drive everyone at work crazy by
wishing them a happy solstice/equinox. <big eg>

So, tell us- what's it LIKE to be openly celtic?
kami
response 15 of 46: Mark Unseen   Oct 2 06:40 UTC 1996

Frustrating; you have to deal with people whose preconceptions of your
beliefs come from bad Llewellyn books, who confuse your culture with a
basketball team, who think you're on the same bandwagon they've just hopped
up on when actually, you wish they'd get the hell off. Other than that, fun.

Hi Anne! Don't hear from you often enough. How's life? Pass on a hug for
me to the rest of your household.

response 16 of 46: Mark Unseen   Oct 2 15:47 UTC 1996

What?
You mean this isn't a basketball religion???????
*stands in front of the LArry Bird photo on his Celtic altar. Erm, I knew
that. Really, I did.

response 17 of 46: Mark Unseen   Oct 2 17:34 UTC 1996

Well, I'm planning an altar to Mt. Dew... does that count? :)
kami
response 18 of 46: Mark Unseen   Oct 2 17:42 UTC 1996

Larry Bird as an avatar of Bile'-- the world tree, tall and dark, reaching
the heavens with big, strong roots, a god of sudden death and soaring
heights? Naaaah, it's a bit of a stretch. So, who's Larry Bird anyway?

I'm sure you'll rebound just fine from the shock, Brighn.
robh
response 19 of 46: Mark Unseen   Oct 2 17:50 UTC 1996

Tall and DARK???

<robh falls over, laughing convulsively>

(Since kami doesn't know, I'll mention, Larry Bird is very caucasian
and very blond.)
kami
response 20 of 46: Mark Unseen   Oct 2 17:55 UTC 1996

Oh. I like basketball, but I don't get to watch it on TV. After I finished
writing I sort of thought I might have goofed. Do you think I've got
Larry *Bird* confused with *Air* Jordan?
birdlady
response 21 of 46: Mark Unseen   Oct 2 19:30 UTC 1996

Kami had the best explanation of what it's like to be an open Celt. Those
witticisms are what make me love this cf. =) Brighn...sometimes you make
me laugh so hard I want to hit you!!! <growls then realizes how dumb she
sounds>

<birdy has no idea what is making her so lovable today...weird..oh well>
<shrug>
kami
response 22 of 46: Mark Unseen   Oct 2 19:34 UTC 1996

Birdy, Cute is NOT a Celtic virtue. Stop it right now! <g>
anne
response 23 of 46: Mark Unseen   Oct 2 20:17 UTC 1996

Kami- you haven't heard much from me because I haven't been around
much. <grin> I'll pass on that hug. :) Other then that,
things are going rather well. :)

response 24 of 46: Mark Unseen   Oct 2 22:35 UTC 1996
