A bit about Qabalah h
|
Aug 25 05:45 UTC 1994 |
OK, this is the long awaited item on the Cabalistic Tree of Life and some
of its associations. I'm no expert, so I'm hoping lots of more experienced
people will chime in (Robh?). The first response or so ought to be the
diagram, so we have a visual aid to work with. It has been said that the
"tree" itself stands alone, as an inspired vision to which people have
added interpretations and other language over time.

As far as I know...it is a Jewish mysticism form. The Tree of Life
is another name I am familiar with. There are ten(?) spots (circles?)
and various paths to get to each circle. I do not know what the (sorry)
represent. I believe it is a metaphorical representation of the choices we
make in life.
How am I doing?

Well, you know, there are parts of the Tree of Life which
look like an H... But now I'm getting silly.
Since Kami doesn't seem to be doing anything in her own item -
something I'll have to bop her on the head for - I downloaded
some text files on Qabalism and put them in my temp directory.
You can "more" any of these from an Ok: or Unix prompt:
/tmp/robh/cabala.int
/tmp/robh/cabalah.cln
/tmp/robh/kabalah.ch

ok, I looked at "/tmp/robh/cabala.int" and "/tmp/robh/cabalah.cln". The
first one was too dense, obscure and confusing to make sense of unless you
are a rabbi. The second is one of the clearest, most comprehensive and
interesting hisories and explanations of Cabala and the Tree of LIfe in
particular that I've seen anywhere. Can you either send it to me or
post it here? Or will it be around long enough to look at a number of times?

It's a file, Kami, you can copy it to your directory or mail it
to yourself (mail kami < /tmp/robh/cabalah.cln) or whatever. They'll
be in that directory for a while, at least until the staff decides
to clean the place out.
I think I'll go delete that first one, even I don't like it, and
I'll read any old thing about the Tree. >8)

Or XMODEM (sx instead of sz, I believe they're actually linked
to the same program, but it switches on argv[0]). Oops, I lapsed
into techno-nerd. Sorry!
