minerals, crystals, etc. Mark Unseen   Aug 10 01:29 UTC 1994

While I was driving yesterday, I thought of a question. This may be
simplistic, but I'm curious anyhow.

There is a lot of talk about affinities for certain stones, metals, etc.

I have certain types of things I like, such as cut crystal and pewter.
I don't know if I'd say I had an "affinity" for it, as I don't use it
for anything in particular, except I really like to look at it and hold it.

I don't know how much any of the "new age" or "paranormal" stuff applies
to me directly, as I sort of believe it, but couldn't ever picture
myself practicing any of it.

But back to the question: from the point of view of people who DO
use crystals, minerals, etc. would these intense preferences for
certain materials (used in decorative items) have any particular
significance?

Sorry to be a bit wordy, but I wanted to make sure I had the question
asked correctly.

Welcome, Brenda.
Only one person's opinion, but certainly, your body/mind (or whatever) knows
what you need, or what works for you. It might be that you tend to need the
grounding or insulating ("sound"proofing?) effect of the lead in pewter and
cut crystal. I sometimes find those materials almost physically uncomfortable
if I'm doing intense magical work, since they do not transmit a strong, steady
flow of energy. As to "significance", dunno- in what way? Personal: of
course, but hard for anyone else to state for SURE what it is. Cosmic: I
don't think so, but I'm rather a pragmatist.
Anyone else?
(Arwen might have some interesting notions when she gets back.)

i guess i'll add my question to the rest. i tend to alternate between not
wearing/liking anything, and gold, and silver. (not at the same time,
sometimes gold, sometimes silver, usually with a period of nothing
between.) also, i often like shaped pewter. what are the characterisics
of these, and why the periods of liking none? (they are not quite periods
of aversion, but more periods when wearing/holding/being around these
ornaments doesn't occure to me.) also, i am constantly in the company of
some type of computerized object. (even my watch is one.) does this mean
i have an affinity to silicone? <G>

Um...gee, thanks Kami! <g> I think that metals help conduct energy
and silver is goddess oriented and gold is god oriented. Copper is also
a favorite of the god. I am not thinking clearly so I will try to
add more on this later. Hi Brenda!

I find silver restful, and like copper because I'm an energy junky. Gold is a
bit heavy and inert for me oftentimes, although I did have a ring I used as
a sort of long-term battery or storage of memories/focus.

I find silver energizing and gold just doesn't feel right. I am not a sun
person at all and get most of my revving up from the moon.
Kami, art thou a sun goddess? <G>

I had any idea for a ring that I will prob. eventually make (when I get the
&&& for material). It's rather simply...it is a braid of three
different metlas...I don't remember HOW the idea came to me...but the
logic that I remember (and thefact that I can't forget it) seem to
tell that maybe I DIDN'T think of it (if ya' knowhutImean)
anywho the three metals are 1) gold 2) silver 3)iron
weird, ne?
arwen
response 10 of 109: Mark Unseen   Aug 18 16:54 UTC 1994

Not weird. Gold=sun Silver=moon Iron=stars(meteorites)
Very interseting!

i have a ring that's copper, brass, and sterling silver. I used to
wear it all the time, but the copper turns my finger green :(

Brenda, try painting the side that touches your finger with clear
nail polish. Works like a *ahem* charm! <giggle>

Yes sir...my twin did. He feels that my entry of 8-19-94 19:06
violates the Pun Code as estqablished under Article 33, section 9
chapter 5 verse 7 words 6through 67

response 16 of 109: Mark Unseen   Aug 22 19:47 UTC 1994

Pun tax, pun tax!!!

I like that, Jeremy. Hm, another interpretation might be
gold= outflowing, silver=inward, iron=ground

or, gold=gods silver=other "critters" (spirits, elves, whatever) iron=human

Arwen, I don't think you can call someone who is rather heat intolerant a
sun goddess... I rather prefer moonlight. I just happen to be a bit of an
energy junky, and copper (like amber) carries a hell of a charge.

response 17 of 109: Mark Unseen   Aug 22 21:40 UTC 1994

I prefer the 12 step -10 program.....
that way you get to do the two-step

curiouser and curiouser (as Alice said). I'm gettng very interested in
the different aspects of metals and gems. would anyone be willing
to talk to me via email or ytalk? I'd be intersted in having some
of my own prefernces explained to me.

thanks
