Trade War narrowly averted (Japan/US), The new global economy
|

It seems the first trade war of the 21st century was narrowly avoided yesterday
when Japan and The US struck a deal on automotive production. I'm glad, a trade
war would be nasty for both economies. Personally,I feel the US should lead
the way in high tech design and let Japan be the good producers they are.
However I do believe that The World Trade Organization should enact stiff t
tarriffs on those who produce without humanitarian and enviromental concerns.
There is a rather uneven playing field with respect to this, especially in e
the asian rim. The WTO in cooperation with the UN could probably resolve these
sorts of differances if they wern't so busy with Bosnia, and other conflicts.
