My favorite sport to watch is ice hockey. I follow NHL and NCAA and olympic
hockey very thoroughly. I am very pleased that Columbia Cable has added
ESPN2 to its lineup in AA, because ESPN2 carries a lot of hockey
(in season). I love hockey because of its speed.
My favorite sport to play is volleyball. I play competitive volleyball
in the AA rec dept. Men's B league. It's a much more complicated game
than most people think. I've been playing it for about 12 years.
I'm not counting the time before that when I played recreational
(noncompetitive) volleyball, which is a different game altogether.
I also watch football and soccer, but I don't think much of
basketball or baseball.

Biking is the all around ultimate sport. I personally favor mountain biking. B
But by a very slight margin over road biking.

To watch: Basketball (if the teams are rivals, and the outcome promises
to be exciting.
To play: Bowling. Since I used to work and hang out in a bowling alley,
I started playing the game seriously about 12 yrs ago, taking time to learn
the proper stances, the proper approaches, and how to turn the ball so
it would hook just right. I went from being a 140 average bowler with a
high game of 225 to being a 195 average bowler with a high game of 299.
Anyone who says bowling is lame, really has no idea of the science
involved, and all the different factors that must be considered. It really
IS a complex game, and he who understands it, has the advantage.

I have tried SPORTS, I have tried NATURE- Is there no one on GREX
who who rides Horses? Not rental horses, but the competitive kind-
especially DRESSAGE and THREE-DAY EVENTING. I ama Dressage Rider in
Alabama who would like to discuss these things with other interested
parties.

It's a good question, Rebecca. I know there are some people with equine
interests who log on. I am not one of them myself, alas, as I have
never passed beyond rental horse trail rides. I suspect that you'll
get some response, but I doubt if anyone besides yourself has
dressage experience.

given the number of users, I wouldn't be so quick to doubt.
I've pointed rebeck to the ING conference. there's an item there
about, appropriately enough, horseback ridING. :)

In my opinion, hockey is the greatest sport in the world. It seems to combine
the best of speed, endurance, agility, and strength. Where else do you have to
balance on blades and try to stand up while 200lb. guys try to knock you down.
I admit I have a very biased opiion. I was raised on hockey and have played it
for about 14 years, but it still is my favorite sprt to play, I have never
grown tired of it. Glad to share from the frozen wasteland of North Dakota

TENNIS is the best sport...I have played tennis for as long as I can
remember....Whenever I get in a bad mood, I can slam that ball as hard as I
want to feel better. And in the process burn off calories :>

How about squash? You can hit the ball as hard as you like and it bounces back
at the other player :)
Or how about Rugby League (played mainly in Australasia and UK) which is
similar to NFL but without protection and more violent than rugby?
You get rid of a bad mood in those two sports!

Volleyball! I play in the AA Rec Department Men's B league.
We always seem to have a mediocre team, but never fail to have fun.
I set out of the 6-2 which means a lot of running around. It's great.

I think the rec department does sand v-ball leagues both doubles and 4s over
the summer. You might check the rec department.

Cricket's popularity is limited to countries originally in the British
Commonwealth. That excludes Canada and the US. The US, because we left the
British fold before the game was invented, and I'm not sure why in Canada.
Anyway, few people in the US have much of a clue about how to play cricket.
In fact, few can even understand a score. In fact, I am one of the many
Americans with no clue about cricket.
