<after interpreting the pseudo-English in #0>

It think it's pretty equal, though women are trained that it's Not Cool to
reveal when you're horny. So, it always seems like women are rarely in the
mood, whereas my experience shows we get just as horny just as often. Guys
just tend to be more verbose about it.

Not all women have sex to get love. Not all guys fall in love just for the
sex.

Generally, I think sex and love are confused entirely too often, at least in
American culture (and probably others) but that's really a seperate rant.

In general, I would suspect that guys and girls 'want it' about the same.
THere are, of course, exceptions to be made, however, on both sides of the
fence. Questions/statements such as this tend to lead to very iffy thinking,
to my mind...so I don't ponder it terribly often :)

I prefer to think that women have a better sense of appropriateness than guys.
One coworker I have, for example, will discuss his desire for sex in the
middle of a discussion of insurance issues, with mixed company that couldn't
possibly care. I'm sure I work with women who have the same desire at the
same times, but most of them don't particularly want to tell *me* about it.

re #1:

It seems like there's a biological difference in there somewhere. It's
not that men are hornier than women. It's that men tend to stop feeling
horny for a while when they get off, and women don't necessarily. A lot
of men I know treat sex like coffee or aspirin -- if you're tired you
drink coffee, if you've got a headache you take an aspirin, and if you're
turned on you have sex -- it's the obvious reaction. It's like horniness
is a signal that you _should_ have sex, and then you'll feel better. For
most women, horniness seems to be more of a signal that you _could_ have
sex.

Dan put it a hell of a lot better than I did. THANK YOU for understanding
that we don't stop feeling horny once we get off. A woman's desire builds
and builds and builds with each orgasm, so you just sorta have to wait for
it to fade. That's what I've been trying to make guys understand ever since
I started receiving the question, "Why don't you masturbate when you're
horny?"

Ah, the light bulb clicks on. Color me silly, but certain
things make more sense now, like a woman's need to "come down"
after sex, i.e. afterplay (so you don't have to *wait* for it
to fade necessarily). More specifically, ejaculation that
almost invariably accompanies orgasm in men doesn't in women
(I hear it's a rare thing). Women can theoretically have
orgasm to exhaustion. That accurate?

Yup, and it's not as great as it sounds. You start to feel helpless, since
your whole body goes numb and your vision gets blurred, and every nerve is
overstimulated. It's not a good torture, despite what phenix might think.

You also run into a few differences which may be cultural, or may be
biological, such as the fact that the relationship criteria for men (being
a bit stereotypical) tend to be more immediately visible than those for women,
that affect perception of someone else's horniness.

I haven't really figured out why it'd be a useful question to ask,
though, since the difference between individuals of the same sex is clearly
much greater than that between genders.

have worn out nutcases like alley mcbeal.

Not all women can have multiples, and not all women have a g-spot. I can't
remember the figures offhand. I just thought I'd throw that in.

(Well, I should say, not all women have a g-spot located close enough to the
vaginal wall to gain the effects of stimulation)

some girls have told me otherwise about their orgasm: that it is a build-up
to explosion, which relieves them. and after that's done, they don't want
their genitals being touched anymore, because they're too sensitive in an
unpleasurable way. this is how it is for me... although i, like these girls
i speak of, am able to be assuaged back up to potency.

once again YMMV
i've know a few with leland's description, but most i have known
seem to just want to keep going, differnt than sarah.
but i'm not a mind reader, so i wouldn't know for sure

It depends on the individual, in my experience.

response 19 of 79: Mark Unseen   Sep 24 03:47 UTC 2002

I like to keep going... you're misreading me. :)

Biologically, it's difficult since the vagina can dry up after an orgasm.
PLUS, I know many men whose penis becomes sensitive after orgasm, so it's best
to leave it alone for a little while. Soooooo...it all depends on the person,
the timing, the mood, etc.

response 20 of 79: Mark Unseen   Sep 24 04:47 UTC 2002

Well, now that we've all agreed that everyone's milage varies...

I'm wondering now whether there are any cultures where women are considered
to be hornier than men. That would be a glitch in my theory that there's a
biological difference involved.
michaela
response 21 of 79: Mark Unseen   Sep 24 05:34 UTC 2002

I know that in the Jewish religion, a woman can file for divorce if her man
doesn't satisfy her often enough, but I wouldn't say Jewish women are known
to be hornier than most men. I just thought I'd throw that in because I've
always thought it was a cool role reversal. Usually, the man expects his wife
to satisfy him.

(I'm using "usually" in a VERY BROAD sense, so don't get all offended).

response 22 of 79: Mark Unseen   Sep 24 06:15 UTC 2002

No offense taken. I think it's safe to admit that is rather true.

response 23 of 79: Mark Unseen   Sep 24 06:38 UTC 2002

20: i don't think there's a glitch in your biological theory, but that's very
frequently how i am about biological theories. the next step is to parse
social contributions from biological, to determine a, uh, continuum of
horniness.

response 24 of 79: Mark Unseen   Sep 24 14:44 UTC 2002

Right. What we really need is some research... for the common good, of
course. All in the name of science. ;)
