Of course! TARDA2 has tapes of most of the episodes, up through season
5. Come to one of our meetings (every other Wednesday, 2439 Mason
Hall on the U of M Campus, 8 PM) and watch with us.

"Now, the most difficult decision we must make is what to call
ourselves. My own personal favorite is the Comittee for the
Liberation and Integration Of Terrifying Organisms and their
Rehabilitation Into Society. There's just one problem with it,
the initials spell CLITORIS."

Red Dwarf is hilarious! I'm hoping that the Science Fiction Channel
will pick it up. I've got most of the first two seasons on tape but
would love to get my hands on seasons 3, 4, and 5..

So do you think it's hard for a Dead Guy to get a job?

Okay, this dreadlock guy gets put into suspended animation for goofing
off and generally doing nasty things to his bunkmate Rimmer. One outcome
of his goofing off causes the entire crew of the ship to off it due to
radioactive contamination. The ships computer decides to keep him in
stasis for the 3 million years it takes for the ship to be liveable.

He comes out to find that his cat (who he got put in stasis for) breed
cats who evolved into human like beings who still act like cats. One of
these cats becomes his companion. This cat looks like one of the Pips
for want of any better description.

Our heros other companion is a holographic construct in the form of his
old bunkmate.

These three proceed to bug the hell out of each other while dealing with
various SF problems in an amusing fashion.

It's good enough for me to have memorized the theme song.

Hey, you forgot about The Computer...The ship's computer also has a
personality...a very misguided personality if you can imagine that!

In addition, you should mention that his old bunkmate is of those
straight-laced, spit-n-polish, Oxford type dudes! You know, the type
that believes in Principles of Management!

Hello people. OK. To begin, we in the UK have now seen 5 or 6 series of Red rf.
Yes, they are excellent. I would like to point out that a complete sad
character who can only be described as a git(ie. Rimmer) is nothing at all like
an Oxford-type. Although I am not arguing that Oxford does not contain it's
share of Rimmers, don't stereotype all of us please. PS. Don't be alarmed when
Holly's sex changes overnight. Things like that
    happen in deep space!

.:help
Sorry about that, I said I said it was my first message.
Anyway, as I was saying, I have the first 6 seasons on tape. I think
it's the most hilarious show ever. After the second season, thee's a
format change. A bit of the history is re-written, and a new
character (actually introduced in the second season), an android named
Kryten, is added. My favourite episodes are Better Than Life (season 1),
Kryten (season 2), and Back to Reality (season 5). How about any other
favourites?

I'd have to go with "Stasis Leak" myself, but I've only seen the first
two seasons. Sure would like to see the rest.

Here in the UK they are currently repeating all of the series and they are up
to series 6 now. I don't want to sour the atmosphere but Craig (Lister)
Charles is up on a Rape charge at the moment. Unf. the news is almost totally
silent about it here, but i'll post a report as i get one.
  Krebsy.

Yes, I've been following that in the Red Dwarf newsgroup. I hope
he's acquitted, but more importantly, I hope he didn't do it.

Here in Texas, there is a pbs station out of Dallas called KERA.
They run Red Dwarf on saturday nights, and they're going through all the
episodes again. I hope RD does NOT get on the scifi channel because of this
annoying habit of arbitrarily hacking programs to fit time slots. And one of my
favorite episodes is 'Qua' Quarantine' (season 4?)

For anyone who's interested, Blockbuster Video on Main St. in Ann Arbor
has the first 4 seasons of Red Dwarf for rent (there are 2 tapes per
season). Right now you'll find them on the "New Releases" shelf.

Can I clarify a small point it isn't actually as a result of Listers 'goofing
off' that the radiation leak occurs but due to rimmers negligance in repariing
the drive plate which allows a cadmium-2 leak.. Now this is also sort of due to
the fact that Lister should have been helping him but couldn't because he was
in stasis.. However Lister wasn't in stasis for goofing off but for breaking
quarantine regs by smuggling an un quarantined pet..His cat...on to the ship
and by refusing to give her up for disection and analysis.. It's a small point
but a rather important one in my view... It explains a lot of Rimmer's
insecuritys and also why it is him and not Lister that is imprisioned on
Justice World... A devoted RD fan..(Whattya mean you can tell ;) )

I acquired the red dwarf novels recently, and the reason that lister got the
cat in the first place was (according to the book) lister signed on hoping for
a quick passage back to earth from mimas, and he found out that it would take 5
years.

Yup Grant Naylor decided that Lister broke quarentine rules just to get in
to Stasis as he could stand the thought of another 5 years in sopace...
Nice Irony huh?

I wish someone would show Red Dwarf again in the Detroit area. It's been
absent for 4 years now, and they only ever showed the first 2 seasons anyway.
Blockbuster recently got seasons 1-4, but I understand there are quite a few
more than that now, right? And whatever happened with that rape trial,
anybody know?

There have been 6 seasons of RD. Craig was not convicted of rape and there
may be 2 more seasons made.
