I recieved mail from a friend of mine in SFWA yesterday. Apparently
writer Roger Zelazny passed away yesterday afternoon.
The cause of death was liver failure brought on by colon/rectal cancer.
Apparently he had been ill for some time, but his condition had not been
widely known in the SF community.
<sigh> The world is a smaller place now.

I will, too. He wrote some great fiction. He was kind of a swiss
army author; he seemed to pull out a different style of writing for each
new novel or series. I thought some of it didn't work out too well, but
at his best, such as with "Lord of Light" or "Amber", he was wonderful.

Serious bummer. Well, I guess now I know why he's been less prolific in
recent years, and why, when he was goh at a local con a few years back, he
looked cadaverous. Never having seen him before, I figured a)that was just
him and b)he was just tired. Sadness.
