FANS OF SW: READ THIS NOW! Mark Unseen   Feb 27 13:51 UTC 1995

STAR WARS FANS!!!!!!

Are there any people out there who are big fans of Star Wars, or are still
keeping up with the incredible amount of memorabilia being released? I happen
to be probably the biggest fan of Wars, and can honestly say that I mysel Has
anyone else been following the novels as closely as myself? I can heartily say
that I personally enjoyed the latest, Ambush at Corellia, and am more than a
little anxious for the next two.

Anyone else out there been reading Dark Empire II or DArk Lords of the Sith?
The first is recommmended, with issue 2 showing Boba Fett's face. Plans are
being made for series' on Jabba the Hutt, Bounty Hunters, Heir to the Empire,
Sr of the Mind's Eye and many others.

If this affects you, please leave a response.

I'm a pretty big fan myself, though it's difficult to keep up w/ everything
as I don't have the money to spend on it (gotta wait for the library to get
the books as they come out, etc.) The new WideVision cards are pretty cool,
though...nice pictures. Also, there's a Star Wars card game (a la Magic:
The Gathering et. al.) set to come out soon that I'd like to get in on, if only
to collect.
If it's anything like the Star Trek game, the pictures should be pretty cool.
I'm interested in getting into the recent comics, as well.

I have never gone in for all the "spin-off" books associated with Star ****
movies and/or television series, ST or SW. I'll admit to having read the
3 paperback (mine are :-) books corresponding to the 3 SW movies, and they
provided some interesting trivia impossible to pick up from the movies.
Since the 3 represent the middle triumvirate of a triumvirate of triumvirates
;-) I'll ask whether books have been written yet that will essentially serve
as the plots for the other 6 movies (which may or may not ever be made) ?

Re #2---The basic plot has been worked out for the first triumvirate. In
episode 1, The Clone Wars, Obi Wan finds Anakin and encourages him to be
a Jedi. Anakin's wife is also mentioned. Episode 2, The seduction of Darth
Vader, tells of the fall from grace of Anakin, and features a battle between
Obi Wan and Vader alluded to in Star Wars. Episode 3, The Fall of the
Republic, tells of Emperor Palpatine's political rise, and the early lives
of Luke and Leia.

Other new projects...Shadows of the Empire, a comic series due out in 1996
takes place between ESB and ROTJ, and tells of the shady connections the
Empire had. Also, Kenner is expected to release a new series of toy figures.
Timothy Zahn is due to start work on another set of Star Wars books. Lucas-
film is talking about adding 3 to 4 minutes of new footage to the original
version of Star Wars. A series of short stories titled Tales from the Mos
Eisley Cantina and Tales from Jabba's Palace are also currently under work.

By the way, my name is Mike Jones, and I would be interested in discussing
Star WArs on grex, or possibly trading memoribilia over Grex. May the
Force be With You.

You say the basic plots have been worked out; do they manifest themselves
in books one can now/soon buy? Or would that be giving away too many
secrets, thus a disincentive for people to go see the movies (when/if they
are ever made) ?

re 4. There are some magazines out that give a summary of the plot for the
prequels, however, George Lucas has been known to change his mind before, so
for the present that's about it. He has said that the basic plot lines have
been in his head since he made the first three movies, so I guess the stories
are pretty much thought out. Another new item I just learned about is the
new comic series comming out this year from Darkhorse...entitled Classic Star
Wars: The Vandelheim Mission. MTFBWY.

to the empire, and personal feelings comes out in May. Sorry my grammar

I have only recently thrown myself head first into Star Wars (although I saw
the movies in the theatre as a small child). I have much to catch up on, and
much to buy (which my meager college student income t to know all about the
Galaxy--help me learn.

How in gods name did Battletech get involved in this? And how do they
expect thier megar weapons to measure up to a Superstardestroyer?

Simple. All Star Destroyer Designs have a rather large blind spot
underneath and rear.

stand no chance against the Colonists.

So, thoughts about the spring release of Episode I?

response 22 of 23: Mark Unseen   Nov 24 17:27 UTC 1998

The line for tickets for the first screening at your local megaplex will
start on March 1.

There's no question that it will make more money than any other movie
released this year. The question is whether it will make more money
than any other movie, period.

It will probably be entertaining but there's no way it can be worth all
of the attention it will get.

There's an item in Agora discussing the trailer, which looks to be
very promising. I will try to go opening weekend, just to avoid
having it spoiled for me by all the net discussion.

Looks like www.starwars.com has tons of spoiler info as well,
discussing the new characters and settings.
