It looks a lot better from across the room than from up close.

The line graphics look very snazzy on my DEC VT320 terminal emulator.
Somebody who's not using a VT-type terminal would likely see garbage,
however.

(To see what characters are "really" in response #0, type
"define pager see", then re-read the item.)

This is all very interesting. I don't like the SciFi Channels 30 minute
Dr. Who hour though. I prefered it when I was at my grandfather's joint,
the whole episode with no commercial interuptions (make sure you get
your snacks and go to the bathroom before viewing.)

it certinaly is different than non-stop PBS action, even if it was on
latenight near the end and you either stayed up to watch or taped it...
now, the half hour business... is it on every day, or just on weekends?
the original BBC packaging was a half hour a week, 7pm on saturday nights...
that would be enough to drive me nuts...

I think just weekends. I would have to check the T.V. Guide (no, not the
*real*one) to be sure. No, I believe this half-hour was an Sat and Sun, or
possibly just Sun at High Noon.

Has anyone seen "The Prisoner"? It's another one of those PBS scifi series.
It's all about a man (#7) who was captured and taken to an island where
everything was sort of "1984ish". Everyone had their names replaced with a
number, and almost everything was censored. I don't remember much more
because it went off the air about a year ago. Has anyone seen it, and do you
know if it's back on on cable or somewhere?

Has anyone seen it? Sheesh! I've seen every episode at least twice!
It's currently on the Sci-Fi Channel at 8 PM (against both Seaquest
and Superman) and repeated at midnight. There's some editing, though,
your best bet is to stop by the Ann Arbor-Saline Road Video Watch,
they have all 17 episodes available as $1 rentals.

If you're referring to "The Prisoner" that stars Patrick McGoohan, then thats
many years old, and probably originated in Britain for the BBC. Naturally
the Sci-Fi channel show many of the "classic" series from yesteryear to fill
up its programming.

No, it wasn't BBC. They spent too much money on it for it to have been a BBC
production! I think it was made by ITV or some other independant British
TV network. And no, our hero was not #7. He was #6. Number 6.
Who is number one?
You are number six.

Yes, I can vouch for the fact that The Prisoner was indeed British, it did
indeed feature Patrick McGoohan as number 6, it was produced by ITC, it was
filmed in Portmeirion, North West Wales, in the grounds of the Hotel
Portmerrion, Penrhyndeudraeth, where there are frequent Prisoner fan club
meets.
