joan of arc fascinates me,
but does anyone understand what happens at the end of her life?
i cant figure out cause its like they ask her "will you accept the church's
judgement,"
and she says, "yes . . as long as GOd/the lord comes first"
why does this piss off the tribunal?

joan is implying that the ecclesiastical court is ignoring justice in
favor of political expediency, and accusing the court of being
hypocritical.

Tribunals back then were pig-headed i assume so i think it is really
not fair to ask why they were pissed off? Idiots don't need a valid
reason to get pissed off. Actually, it was just today that i came to
know that the Joan of Arc was burnt alive. It shocked me because during
India's struggle for independance, the Queen of Jhansi died fighting
the British in a battle and since then she has become a legend, a
goddess incarnate almost.

Joan was suggesting that the tribunal (which almost certainly claimed
to be doing God's will in His name) actually had no special hotline
to the Holy, derived no authority Therefrom, and probably wasn't
doing anything resembling His will.
