Received my first National Traffic System (NTS) message
|
Jun 3 01:38 UTC 2008 |
I just got a telephone call from a nearby HAM who was talking too fast
for me to write down his name or callsign, but he relayed the following
message:
Message 724 from VE3SCY in Ingersol, Ontario.
Greetings on your birthday and salutations to another year.
Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love
one another.
Romans chapter 13 verse 8
I'm not even an active HAM operator, even though I'm still licensed.
Has anyone else ever received one of these?

Do you know VE3SCY? Harold? Hams are into message handling, but most often
in emergencies. But, no, I have never received a message relaqyed by a
ham.

The ham must have gotten the phone number wrong.

No, the HAM knew my callsign, and my birthday was on 27 May.

Then....send your thanks to VE3SCY via NTS! (I'm not on it, so you'll have
to find another ham.)

I was going to send him a QSL card. Should I do that instead?

I get such greetings almost every year. This year 2, since I rejoined
the YLRL.
