Writer's road block. Mark Unseen   Jan 25 07:42 UTC 1999

Argh!
It will not come.
A messy mind,
but no creativity.
I suppose it's because
it's been run faster
than it was designed to go.
No fuel injectors,
no nitro injectors,
no bug catchers.
Just a large 4-cylinder
that's been adept
at critique of the poetry lately.

But a lot has been demanded of it.
It goes down many types of roads--
poetic, musical, philosophic, humorist,
roleplay, and so on.
And I'm just trying to enjoy the ride
when everyone's trying to win a race.

Oh Miles, from whom all poetry flows.
Hallowed be thy pen
Thy words are great
Thy rhymes first rate
May it be my turn again.

Ah, the Artistically Jealous Husband strikes again.

(and thank you, Julie, I've never had a hymn written to me before :)

Re#4 Yes. I'm not sure which one yet, but she's a wonderful kisser. ;)

Re#5 Miles! I was just being facetious because Jon said we worshipped
at your altar. Nevertheless, you're more than welcome.

faster and faster and faster
until all the colors blur together
and it's just too much
too trying
to pick a single one
and it's so impossible
to catch them all

sorry...that popped into my head...

I finally realized the one thing that gets to me about this (it's
somethign I"m guilty of on occasion as well)

"No fuel injectors
 no nitro injectors"

it's just the use of same word to end 2 consecutive lines, is there
another word that could be used for one of these and still have you feel
comfortable with it?

it repeats, but they are TWO different things. I can't re-name what
they're called :P

Re #14: As one of the resident technologists, I'd suggest a
different device. Fuel injection is pretty pedestrian these
days, while nitrous is for those who live on the redline.
Perhaps your image would be better suited by a supercharger.
lumen
response 18 of 22: Mark Unseen   Jul 19 21:37 UTC 1999

A supercharger? Actually, not all of us go pro racing. Turbo is just fine for
most of us law-abiding motorists. Nitrous is even banned in most racing events.

Re #18: You'll find superchargers in plenty of street Fords
(Thunderbird Super Coupe) and some Buicks. Even one model of
the Toyota MR-2 had one. So if it's the distinction between
street and racing that's holding you back from using the
metaphor, don't let it.

Most turbochargers lead pretty staid lives on diesel engines
pushing semi trucks, bulldozers, and the like. Just FYI. ;-)

I figured, Russ. Turbochargers, as I was told, help boost power, which
doesn't always have to translate into speed. (I've asked about Mercedes
Benz diesel engine cars.)
