"Gloss Black"
Yellow, the color of my indifference, barely perceptible,
barely tangible, just beneath the surface, where it's hard to
touch, and you barely notice, but it's there, always there,
until you come along. First it was burnt red, the color of my
confusion, the color of fallen leaves after the spring thaw.
Then pale pale blue, just as comfort, like the edges of the
sky, the beginning of the horizon, pale and washed out, subtle
in every way, soothing. Now you twist me, swirling me around
deep luscious blue, shot through with bolts of electric,
eclectic green. Now I want you, I dream of you in a secluded
wood on the shore of a tranquil pond, you stand, one arm
behind you, the other outstretched, seductive, beckoning me
with one gloss black fingernail. It calls my name, and you
whisper quiet assurances through too red lips, and I succumb,
I fall for you, through you, and I am surrounded, immersed in
the once pristine pond, the crystalline surface now marred by
my struggles. You have not forsaken (betrayed) me, only
baptized me, washed away the past. As I struggle towards the
surface I see your hand thrust hard beneath the water, there
to rescue and comfort me, and all I can do is gasp as I break
into clear air, and I will not let go until we're done. All I
want is you, all I want is you to show me and hold me until I
understand! As I awake I find myself surrounded by your words,
by visions of your primal fields, untouched, unmarred by
anything man could conceive. It contains us, restrains us,
only until we can accept it, mold it to our desires, then it
frees us, to breathe, to dream, to live. I want to live, to
learn to live and let this green glittered blue become one
with you, let it envelope us and suffocate us to the point of
exhaustion, to the point of complete understanding. And we will
be one, and what can stop us then? All I ask you is to show me,
to let me believe and make me understand. What can stop us then?
Who could stand in our way?
