i had worked at the dollar tree in southfield michigan.
but i just quit the other day.
it seemed like a catch twenty-two, you know
damned if i do and damned if i don't, and i could never win.
i was the only one who did a thing and got nothing for my show.
i never came to work late, cause it was only a part time job,
earlier in the day i worked at burlington coat factory warehouse.
no no no, we ARE more than great coats. we have linens of luxury.
we're full of profiteering gluttons, and my boss is a fat slob.
but anywho, back to the tree, i quit. which is quite alright with me.
i wore the uniform, alone. cause nobody seemd to care. how sad.
i cleaned the aisles and wore fake smiles to everyone who passed within.
i vaccumed, i dusted, i swept through while everyone else sat around.
my register always short cause my manager failed school and can't add.
dumb bitch, i told her, i quit, i hope this place burns into the ground.
"but why?" she asked, as if she cared for very few just might,
i turned to the door and looked back at to her and laughed out loud.
"you think it'd be as plain as day, just look at yourself for a while,
no one here ever seems to care about getting thigs done right.
i quit, that's all. but i say to you, get your head out of the cloud.

So you're fond of a prosy style, hmmm?
It's different from the usual stuff I see here, so I find it
refreshing-- and I love the slice of life bit. Plus I was forced to
quit a bad job too, so I can relate.
