I had a birthday just the other day

23 years have passed me by
23 years of futile meanderings
 within my mind and heart
Years filled with goals unrealized:

Write a novel
Compete in a mountain biking race
Win a karaoke contest
Lose my love handles
Become more outgoing
MOVE OUT OF MY PARENTS' HOUSE
Go back to school
 and succeed this time

23 years have passed me by
Do I have the ambition to improve
 upon the next 23?
Can I get off my lazy ass and get it done?

23 years have passed me by
Do I have the balls to stop bitching
 and moaning and start doing?
Make the next 23 years something worth
 bragging about?

I guess we'll find out in 2024
