105.1fm, Detroit out of the groove, like Magic, it's neuvou!

It almost snuck (did sneak?) past me. 105.1fm Detroit has
gone from Detroit's New Grove (classic soul with some of today's) to
Magic 105.1, WMGC. I am not sure if this change only occured today
or sometime last Friday. I wonder if it was one of those 'sneak
chages'. They tell the staff not to come in on Friday, as in take
a long weekend, then by 10am or 3pm you bring in enough to make
the change.
I don't know what happened to Jim Harper on WNIC (100.3),
but his first day is Monday 7/2, tomorrow.
It is coming off as Soft Rock, without using that term.
Covering 70's thru now. Thusfar, no defining of what they are
not.
Hey, an announcement that they will have Delilah in the
evening. The same Delilah as heard in Ann Arbor, MI on 107.1fm
and probably many other places. A bit of an overlap of markets.
Well, another announcement that they were talked about
on Local 4, Fox 2 and in the Free Press. I guess I know where
to find the ads.

It's always nice to know that, having destroyed WQRS, they haven't managed
to do anything else succesful with the station.
I really don't miss Detroit radio.

I liked what they had after QRS, which was a very good Edge station, but
nothing since. This is not a surprise.

oh great, another station picking up Delilah. Another station to avoid
in the evenings. As if one local station with that crap (for lack of a
better word) wasn't enough.

This is the third station in the group owned and operating
WCSX and WRIF.

Actually I thought WRIF was owned by Doug Podell and Arthur P.

Well, if you tune to the Chicago 105.1, you hear a spanish
language station. It's the new <something>, one oh 5 point one,
or as I hear and only get part of it, 'le neuvou <something>, uno
<whatever oh or zero is> cinco pointo uno'.
