Vultures
|
Apr 22 18:38 UTC 1995 |
A mated pair of turkey vultures are reported to have been nesting in
the Atrium Office Building (Boardwalk & Wolverine, near Briarwood).
Apparently this is a very convenient venue, as I-94 generates much
food for them daily, and it is right next door.

Roosting, not nesting. There is a nice vulture tree on Huron Parkway
near Fuller/Geddes, across from the high school. You can see many birds
in its bare branches early in the morning.

There is also a roosting tree on the left on Scio Church Rd. not far from
Emerson School (left as you travel west from Ann Arbor but before you get to
Zeeb Rd.) I saw a vulture just the other day on a grassy area along Geddes
Rd across from the Huron River not far from Concordia College - I think that's
Geddes Rd. over there. Oh yeh - while I'm thinking of it. I'm a writer
(kids' books) & I've had NYC born & bred editors ask me (when they learn I'm
from Michigan) whether I see bears very often! Sure, I tell them, all the
time, especially in Washtenaw County. ;)
