Little Foxes
|
May 13 16:20 UTC 1993 |
I have *two* fox families living in my back yard. The den closest to
the house has at least 2 babies, and the one in the middle of the field has
at least 4. They bounce and pounce and play tag, and are absolutely adorable.
The babes let me get pretty close, but mama runs away when I come near, so
I keep my distance. I don't want either mama to move her brood.

Cute. What do they eat? Given any thought to supplementing their
diet with Purina Fox Chow?
Do foxes form packs or do they tend to be loners?

They eat mice, mostly. I'll not mess with their diets.
I think foxes are loners.
I do have coyotes around, too, but they make themselves very scarce.

Aren't fox babies called "kits"?

I tried to grow one from a kit once, but I think I was missing some
pieces.

Last week at 11:00 pm a gray fox ran across the road at the East end of
Dexter. I just missed him. (I guess they don't hibernate!).
