I have more Zappa in my large music collection than any other single
artist. I am profoundly saddened by his departure.

How strange, I was just thinking of his music before I signed on...

I new he had prostate cancer and I noticed that his music was
being played frequently on the radio last night but I didn't
make the connection. I heard it announced on the radio today.

I was never really exposed to a lot of Zappa. Oh well.

He was supposed to live well into advanced codgerhood and
still be recording new music at ninety. No fair.

Zappa was one of those people that, even though I don't listen
to his music much anymore, it was nice to know he was still
around. The first album of his I ever heard was called
"We're Only in It for the Money," a "Sgt. Pepper" parody.
I thought it was wonderful. I also like "Weasels Ripped
My Flesh."

Now that he's gone, I hope everyone who isn't a member of
the ACLU will contact them and join up. (Everyone who was
a fan of his, I mean.)

And has been mentioned elsewhere ( by me:)), one of Zappa's most significant
contributions is known only to a few; that he produced Captain Beefheart's
_Trout Mask Replica_, which if you'd heard it, you'd understand the
universe a whole lot better...
Frank was an icon for those of us too cool to be hippies:)

FZ was the only true alternative musician to ever walk the earth.
After his first couple of album (which he produced but he was still under
I think MGM's thumb) he didn't work with record companies at all.
He is the only artist to truely play only what he wanted to.
He would and usually did say anything. It really pisses me off that
he had to die and Micheal Bolton still lives.
FZ was a genius and also the best guitarist to ever live
In 1967 (I think) Jimi Hendrix jamed with him at a club in LA, and all
who saw the show say FZ blew Jimi away.
He was a great man and his music will still be studied long after my
grandchildren are gone.

By the way, a large moon somewhere in our solar system (I can't remember
exactly where) has been named "zappafrank" in honor of the man.
