Dance Clubs
|
Jan 22 13:47 UTC 1992 |
Well, it finally happened; after six years of AA living, I got taken to
the Peach Fuck (aka. Nectarine). It was okay, though I've never before
been to a dance club of the variety that involves +clothed+ people, so
I don't have much basis for comparison. What do you think of the PF?
What about other music clubs in the area, or even music clubs as a
phenomenon?

Del Rio! The only dark, dingy bar left in town.

I've only been there once, about 3-4 years ago, to see Robyn Hitchcock.
The concert was great, but I haven't had any reason or desire to return
since.

I've only been to the Nectarine a couple of times (and only for concerts
(the Bob Mould and Special Beat shows are the only ones I can remember, but
there were probably some more..)
It wasn't a bad place to dance, but it's definitely my sort of hangout
place. If the acts that used to show up there were getting booked elsewhere
in Ann Arbor, I wouldn't be a bit sorry that they weren't doing concerts
any more.. I prefer all the other Ann Arbor venues I've seen concerts in
(Blind Pig, Rick's, Michigan Theater, the Ark, Power Center, Hill Aud, etc..)

Mike, I assume you mean it's *not* your type of place to hang out?
And don't worry live music is no more at the PF.

Hmm, I heard it as the "Tangerine Bathroom." Monday night is their
alternative night, the music's not too bad... Althought most nights
I've heard it's a meat market. Unfortunately most of my friends don't
like alternative, so I don't go there too much.

Vertigo isn't bad. (Of course, coming on "techo-pop" night wasn't a great
idea, but...) The place has a lot of atmosphere, and a nice pool room.
The owner is pretty friendly, too.

Club X at the State Theatre is pretty okay for people watching and dancing -
if the DJ is Darren Ravell and he's not hung-over.
Also, Industry is quite a different type of atmosphere for Detroit.
