What the hell is a Flecktone?

A friend invited me to see Bela Fleck Sunday night at Pease Auditorium.
WOW! Bela is probably the best banjo player I've EVER heard, and I listen
to the Grand ole Opery every Saturday night. Victor Wotten was amazing on
base, making the instrument sound like a sax at one point, and keeping up
with guest Mike Marshall's mandolin (note for note) on another. Future Man
blew me away with a solo piece that was, ah...er...stunning! Funny looking
instrument that Synth-Axe Drumitar. No strings, lots of pads and buttons,
truly ANY sound he wanted to make, he could. They even finished the show
with an encore of some funk/regge/bluegrass that had some of the audience
dancing in the aisles. Lots of fun!
