What would the best Primus album be? I have "Frizzle Fry", which is good,
but not good enough to make me really want to buy another Primus album.
How do the more recent albums compare?

I tend to like their past 2 albums. Frizzle Fry I like but I'll
agree is a bit 'clony'. There is a group which came out is somewhat
like Primus, but are to me like a 'Devo meets Primus' type of group
named aptly 'Sausage'. I 've heard several things which resembled
Primus, and liked, and some which were a little too confusing for me
to listen to. Beavis and Butthead kindly calls these fellows 'The
Seminefrious Tubloidial ButtNoids". I wish groups like Vova Nova,
Funk haus, GIngbread Men, and the recently defunkt and disbanded group
Flinghammer had accessible or more readily accessible albums. I think
these groups, along with 311, 24-7 Spyz, and some of Phish's new stuff
incorporate a better tone of funk in with a heavy rhythm section. I'm
trying to collect more albums from new bands like these. Diverse
music groups of this nature, who in a set may begin with something like
Tejano polka, and en media res jump breakout in heavy funk has been a
constant crowd pleaser (like Brave Combo from Denton, Tx.) although these
bands rarely if ever hit the radio.

that's ok with me because I think the pop airwaves are cloning anyway
so you don't normally catch me listening to el RADIO.....but you might
catch me at a Phish concert.

I really wonder if The Chili Peppers will degrade to pop rock and go
to more stuff like 'Under the Bridge', etc. I firmly believe that The
Uplift Mofo PArty PLan and Mother's Milk were their best...the first
being my preference of the 2.

If you want funk listen to Funkadelics "Electric Spanking of War
Babies." Along with the funk groves there is also some very tribal
drumming. It puts white boy funk like RHCP and Primus to shame.

Just came from Bootsie Collins's last show at Tip's (there is a god :) ) in
N.O. Suppose I have to make my pilgrimage when he shows there....only folks
like Larry Graham rivall that era of bassists IMO.
Yeah, seems I have to agree with you Matthew. That music has been more or
less what I was brought up on. However, to me the still travelling P-funk
without Bootsie is like Muddy Waters with no soul....just not the same.
I thought i heard another rumor (what else is new) that graam was coming
back in to the scene (Larry Graham that is). Heard he's supposed to make
an attempt at reviving Sly style again....seems really to have travelled
with him after Graham Central Station faded.... But DO take this as rumor.
If anyone finds something to validate this I'd surelike to know. It's about
time the blasters of the universe tok hold of the airwaves again.
And yes, saw the video again.....could be Les...can't tell for sure
though.....the sperm suit is a bit distorting.... thought it might be a take
off band though....will follow up .. I mean Les shaved off the stache and
seems to appear almost like the proverbial Gulf Coast surfer now....
