Some of Depeche Mode's music fits pretty well in with the Industrial label.
Although none of it is quite as hard and thrashy as the stuff you've listed
above. Also, although I've never heard much of their stuff, Kraftwerk
pretty much invented Industrial music (again, not as heavy as today's - more
like Depeche Mode :)

early MC 900 Ft. Jesus & DJ Zero fits the industrial category.
Unfortunately, it appears that DJ Zero has hooked up with Vanilla Ice, and
MC 900 has moved on to jazz hooks. A shame, IMO.

The whole Ministry/ Revolting Cocks/ Lard/ Pailhead/ 1000 Homo DJs axis
has some good ideas. Skinny Puppy has its ups and downs, earlier stuff
is more interesting to my ears. KMFDM suck. Thrill Kill Kult is more
techno than "industrial." The first Front 242 album, the least harsh
sounding, is paradoxically my favorite. Helmet is not an "industrial"
band. Nine Inch Nails is warmed over Ministry, although I did like
Pretty Hate Machine.

I'm not going to get into the origin and definition of "industrial" here
but I prefer Jourgensen's term for this type of music: "aggro." The word
"industrial" is more properly reserved for groups like Throbbing Gristle,
Test Dept., Neubaten etc.

The st "aggro/industrial" bum to date remains RevCo's "BS+Q" imho.

I really never pictured Helmet being Industrial. Well, I guess I like
industrial, then.

Hmmm...what about Godflesh, Scorn, OutOut, Swans, Frontline Assembly,
Fear Factory, and Controlled Bleeding? Anyone heard of them?

when you mention naubaten above, are you referring to einsturzende neuabuten?
also, when you talk of industrial, i think of anything with deep clanking
bass, harmonics and distorted guitar, pounding drums, etc. while
we're on the subject of such bands, why not head down to school kids annex
and purchase the LAB LOB OTOMY tape, which may or may not be pure industial,
but is certainly industrial-noise-jazz-rock-punk-crust-core.
