Does Walter Disney & Co. deserve all the flack for making the
Huntchback of Notre Dame a "90s kind of guy?"

rewriting history has long been teh province of the winners. is America
being conquered by Disney?

Hmmm... Essentially my feeling as well (terrifying! ;-)
I imagine they decided the original Quasimodo was too much like (pick yer
politician) and would scare the lil' darlings ;-)
Besides, it's the age of "We are all Sweetness and Light" - and even
Disney is now politically correct and uses Nutrasweet instead of sugar.

Same, same - alla' same - Disney likes Nutraweet coatings and wonderfully
smiley/grinning/slap-happy faces *sigh*
Makes me wanna watch The 'Grinch' again ;-)

i'm definately with void on this one. pocahontas was the worst.
it was also terribly inaccurate. ry and i went to see THND last
week and really enjoyed it. it was entertaining. i think thats
what i look for the most in disney flicks...entertainment value.
the bad part about pocahontas was that it wasnt't even entertaining.
i was disappointed in many ways with that one. THND was a really
welcome experience after our last disappointment.

"Song of the South" is a great Disney 'toon (though it is part
live action), but in this PC age you will probably never see it
in theaters.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that "Song of the South" was at one time
available in Japan on laser-disc. I do not know if it still is; I am
reasonably sure that it has never been released on domestic home-video.
