Here's the other side of the coin: What ideas should we steal from Grex?

I like the way they're handling word wrap, and the ability to backspace onto
the previous line. I like that a lot. Is that just a matter of setting
defaults differently, or can we not do it at all under YAPP?

However, gate works just fine on m-net. It is set as my default editor and
I use it in YAPP

I think we should steal some of their money.
And, I think we should pass out shit at Top Of the Park.
Hell, I'm even going to venture out to Ann Arbor for TOP.

I think we should steal some of their intelligent conversation, it seems to
mix well with Mnet's idiocy.
Basically, having Mnetters on grex has been like having a good meal with lots
of veggies (grex) followed by a glorious banana split (mnet) for dessert!

"Excuse me sir, there's been a printer's error with that refrigerator magnet
you just received. I'd like to give you the correct address . . . "

Since I have to read grex and mnet via the web, I have a suggestion for
Mnet's web browser. When I use the "back" button here on grex, it takes
me back to the page exactly as I left it. It even saves text that I put
into the text box and forgot to post which happens to me all the time
because I am an idiot. That is a feature I would love to see in the Mnet
version.

I'd love to see you back on M-Net, Michael.

Grex's funding model is superior to that of M-Net. Among other things,
they can consistently pay the bills without relying on a few big
contributors to fill in for shortfalls and special needs.

It's funny how the only defense Grexers can conjure up is "We have more
money".

Yes, you have more money.
Now, go get your backpack and play with the other Grexers, dear.

I know. It's dumb. M-net has so much more character. I read Agora and got
bored to shit.

Well, according to k8's first financial report, we have $1408.56
in the bank. That's over 5 months' worth of typical expenses.

they can't help it. they get that way from eating twigs and crushed leaves
which fall from above whilst they be's hugging dem trees, don'tchaknow.

i stood on my brakes while revving up my suv to the redline, then slammed down
hard on the accelerator. wow, what power, what noise, what great skid marks
i left in the pavement. bonus: i almost splatted a whole family of ducks
near boardwalk and eisenhower. dunno how i missed 'em.

Heh, I'd find it hard to believe you've got a 5000-rpm stall speed torque
converter in that gas hog :)

Speaking of which, my dad's car died, or more aptly, the transmission died.
it ground, screeched, slammed and *absofuckinglootely stunk* and the repair
bill was $2184.

re #16: Did you mean me? I'm much more of an M-Netter than a Grexer, for
all that I kind of like Grex better these days.

response 23 of 90: Mark Unseen   Jun 16 19:16 UTC 2000

It's not just that Grex has more money; Grex has more people.
Grex has about four times as many users as M-net.

This is a striking outcome, given that originally every 1991 Grexer
was an M-net user, and that M-net had the advantage in money, network
connectivity and system speed until about 1995 or 1996.
The systems are located in the same city, and the user interface
software is almost identical.

How about the number of people who use the *conferences* in each
system, Ken?
