I need a good guide for programmers of VGA cards. Something with all the register funcitons, SUPER VGA spex and functions BIOS functions, RMADAC programming - the works. Any reccomendations? | ||

What chipset? You can get a programmers' manual for the ET4000 chipset from the Tseng Labs folks; most other chipset makers probably also have similar manuals. If you have access to the X11R5 source distribution, you might want to look at the X386 server -- this is the X server that runs under SysV on 386/486 boxes. It does direct chipset-level programming, and would probably be a good place to start if you're writing your own video driver. | ||
