Six Letter Word Game (5th Edition) Mark Unseen   Sep 7 03:05 UTC 1996

In the Six Letter Word Game a person thinks of a six letter word and
others try to deduce what it is from the responses to guessed words. The
response numbers are the number of letters that match letters in the
hidden word including with respect to place. The full rules are in
/u/rcurl/lettermatch.rules (written for a five letter verson, also being
played in another itme).

As the game proceeds a list of words guessed and their "scores" is usually
available in a file. The person that guesses the word correctly (score =
6) gets to choose the next word to be played.

The 4th Edition (in item #70) has been discontinued because 1026 responses
creates a bit of a lag in the game.

how about "crikey" from the previous game, can we assume that is 0?

Some players started giving the count for the last word w.r.t to their
new word. I haven't adopted that practice. For those that do do it - the count
has *always* been 0 - funny, isn't it?

Very funny :) Can we assume that crikey is a 0 then? Only one way to find
out for sure...I'll guess...hmmm...let me think...

Whoops - something weird happened on #7. "Crikey" was there when I entered
the response. So, again:

I think we need that link to the games/iq cf. I've asked the fw
there to do so, but have not heard back (that'd be carson).

And, yup, found tithal in the OED.
