Summer Restaurant Suggestions
|
Jun 21 15:56 UTC 1998 |
Anyone have suggestions for nice light summer fare at restaurants? I've lost
touch with the local scene to the extent that when my husband offered to take
me out to dinner at a real restaurant (as opposed to the bar food he prefers)
it took me three days to think of something. Every place that came to mind
served heavy, hearty fare that just seemed too much for these hot summer
days...

Big Market Cafe on Huron has Lebanese cold salads and pita bread, to eat there
or take home. They also have their own bakery, and air conditioning.

Take a drive out of crowded Ann Arbor to either Mac's Arcadian
Seafood Shack, in Saline, or The Common Grill, in Chelsea.
Both restaurants are open and airy and serve wonderful light
fare.

The outdoor tables at the Kerrytown Bistro are wonderful. Sidewalk cafe
ambiance without the exhaust fumes.

It's on the Grexlunch schedule about once a year. It's pretty good.

Lots of vegetarian dishes, everything nicely cooked, and Ayse treats her
customers like honored guests. I think she does all the cooking herself, and
her main business is catering at the university. CLosed all or most of
weekends, so call first. Menu changes daily and she tries to buy local.
