Taste

I've watching a show on the Food Network called "Taste". This show is
unique because the host, David Rosengarten, talks about one certain food, than
prepares a dish from the food he was talking about. I have learned much,
including the histories of the Reuben, and how to make the ultimate example
of said sandwich. There have been shows on such things as strawberries, and
olives, among other things like wines, and po' boys (cajun food).
Has anyone seen this show?

That was a while back, but I believe it was in New York City, and I don't
recall the exact story. I do however, remember that you are supposed to drain
and rinse the sauerkraut, letting it drain for about 20 minutes before putting
on the sandwich.

hm... i supose otherwise it would be too briny and wet.
i think though, i have only had reubens with coleslaw, not sauerkraut.
both are cabbage based.

heresy! You *must* have sauerkraut or it's not a reuben!

i've seen "taste" from time to time. it's a pretty good show, even
if mr rosengarten and i disagree about what constitutes the ultimate
reuben. (reubens with cole slaw are called manhattan reubens.)

I saw one yesterday about hamburgers and decided to check the show out severla
more times. He's pretty opinionated -- but they all are. ;)
