Not to be picky or anything... Mark Unseen   Oct 10 22:11 UTC 1997

...but have any of the fairwitnesses actually followed this conference
in backtalk for any length of time?

Black on red is very "hot" on the eyes and hard to read -- at least on
my terminal.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled Foodfest!

Good point. I'll go play with it. (The original idea was to have colors that
looked something like a red and white checked tablecloth in a restaurant.
But the results didn't look remotely like that.)

As I've said before, I think that allowing fw's to set
foreground and background colors, without giving users a
convenient way to override them, was a design mistake. Reading
comfort is important to me, and fw's can't be expected to have
expertise in ergonomics. Pistachio *really* needs something
like Picospan's "set nosource".

I've taken to using Backtalk via the "vanilla" interface --
despite the absence of some pistachio features that I really do
like -- because of this problem.

Um, I don't think Backtalk's authors read this conference.

Oooga. I set the conference colors on my old, 16 color, laptop
computer. I don't think I'd looked at them again since I got my new
(many more color) computer. I agree that the colors were not terribly
readable. For now I've chosen the foodiest color on the option list:
cornsilk.

Backtalk isn't showing any images right now. I think HVCN may be down.
I'll check that the button colors look okay once HVCN is up again.

Interesting. The most recent response in item 1 is a request for feedback
on this conference's Backtalk colors. So clearly I realized when I installed
them that they might need some changes.

Perhaps not, but you have a fast track to *one* of the authors,
n'est ce pas? :)

Well, he *is* here in this room right now, true.

I've expressed my views on fw and user powers in the pistachio
interface elsewhere, so he's probably aware of them.

This much nicer, Valerie, Thanks! (I hadn't used balktalk until after
I'd forgotten your request for feedback. Sorry.)

We have colors only if you access Grex via the web.

Hmm, the colors have been and still look the same to me...!
