downloading picture files Mark Unseen   Apr 5 00:24 UTC 1995

If I download a file from WWW, how do I view it. I have a shareware
viewer which looks at something like 24 different file types, but nothing
of the format found on WWW (Which is a letter followed by a 5-digit number).
Anyone know?

Pictures on the web are either in gif or jpeg format.
Don't be confused by the file name you are getting.
I use jpegview on my powermac. Try WinGIF if you have windows,
or PMJPEG if you have OS/2.

Lynx still doesn't pass filenames from remote hosts to the PC when you
download the file. Is there a new version of lynx coming that fixes
this bug (feature)?

Don
I don't know. They certainly talked about doing this a lot.
Our version is fairly recent, too.

Ok, thanks. I'll try WinGIF - have not used that before. I'll be back
if I can't find it.

I don't thin kI've used wingif before. I have vueprint and lvpro. Can
you recommend any other good programs. I found a great morphing program
on ftp too. I'm not sure if it is commercial or not. I have the feeling it is.
But, If anybody is interested I can get the name for you.

I downloaded a program off of compuserve called GSD (or something like that)
and it seems to work on properly formatted filenames. It crashes when I
try anything I downloaded off of internet. I also bought a shareware morphing
program & failed to notice that it requires 16 meg ram. Now it's gathering
dust.

Nephi, you can get it at ftp.unipg.it
But, I wouldn't recommend wingif or winjpeg. Neithor are very fast.
Archie lview16.zip Now theres a great program.
I might get corel draw 3.0 Does anybody have this? Is it any good?

Thank you, peacefrg.

(Um, what program should I get to unzip it? Do I have to
copy it to some other Unix computer to do it?)

Is photoshop freeware or shareware or crippleware?

Shareware. But you get all of the options without registering.
No crippleware.
