I NEED SOMW FTP SITES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

does anyone know any GOOD ftp sites? I hav about 20, but most are pretty
lame. The best I have found is wuarchive.wustl.edu, are there any others
out there like this?
I mainly like msdos stuff, and love various duploads, er uploads form people

Type at the next prompt,
!zmore /usr/local/inet/ftp-sites.txt
and if you don't want to read the entire list, try typing /foo where
foo is a string to search for instead of hitting the space bar at the
"more" prompt.

matts, the ftp item is Item 12. This was already being discussed there.
There is the in-house list kaplan mentions, and there are usenet sources,
etc. Kill this item, and read Item 12, and ask specific questions there.

As FW, I see no reason to kill this item. Clearly future users will
find the other FTP item more useful. BuI have no problem with opening
up new items for questions.

I saw a report the other day about illigal pirated software available via FTP,
aswell as really gross, demented things (child porn, etc.) How is this
possible, Do universities support this or what, and do any of you have examples
(i am ting a article on the matter, and wanted to see first hand if they really
exist

Child porn, etc may be available on various alt.sex newsgroups on usenet.
The pirated software available by FTP story you are probably thinking of
the David Lamacchia case. There is an item in agora about this issue.

Child pornography and pirate software are both illegal.
Universities do NOT support this, and neither does Grex.
How is it possible? Sites that are doing this are doing so subversively.
THere are law enforcement agencies looking for them.
They found David Lamacchia who was runnning his site at MIT without MIT's
permission, and he is now facing serious felony conspiracy charges.
If the names of these sites were posted here, they would almost certainly
find their way to these law enforcement agencies as well. The FBI and
other agencies are much more aware of the net than they were a few years ago.

If your on the Internet... You might try using something called the
FTP SEARCH ENGINE. What that does is simply enter a word or phrase & that'll
search for any site for either a file, item, text, site locations for FTP
And give you the size of what's there in the directory. You might want to
search the home site of the engine to get WEB TECH SUPPORT for the code
to place on a web page. Just create a simple web page ie:
<HEAD><TITLE="Ftp Search"> next line down
<PRE> That simply means that EVERYTHING below that tag comes out EXACTLY
as typed. Then on the next line down... Enter the code you got from
the FTP site...... You did remember to COPY it to clipboard.
<!Comment line... Like Begin FTP code!>
<code...etc>
</pre></head>
Now save it and load that into the web-browser to use it in your computer.
If your not connected when you do use it... In most cases(MISIE) will
auto-connect to the ISP for me.
BTW: On that little HTML thing above.... If you want to use a <HEAD> tag
is 100% optional. Just make sure you have at leat the
<PRE>
and
</PRE> at the end. That it. If you eventually want to play with it
more.... Go ahead. that's how I learned. That's how I'm still learning.
