I plan on a number of trips into the northwoods this winter and will
therefore need snowshoes. I ski, but know nothing (much) about snowshoes.
From looking at catalogs and web pages I find makes like Tubbs, Atlas,
G&V, Cabella, L.L.Bean, White Mountain, MSR, Iverson, Sherpa, and
Redfeather, from Cabella, REI, L.L.Bean, Campmor and Forestry Suppliers.
I lean strongly toward aluminum frame and plastic, and toward those
in 10"x36" (for 200+ pounds). Any advice about makes, styles, fitting,
sources, etc, would be much appreciated.

The local camping stores tend to carry snowshoes; perhaps they have some
expertise? Locally, snowshoes are rarely of much use.
