This would be more appropriate in the Classified conference .. if there.

Amazing! Spam finds Grex. Now once they find out how slim the pickings
are...

This spam is about as appealing as the original.

I've tried the original. It's much more appealing than this.

Being a World War II baby, I was served Spam a lot as a kid.
Believe it or not, I actually liked it. The internet variety,
by contrast, is about as appealing as industrial smog.

This item now linked to the "Ing" conference.

Heh. It's the spammING item?

It's been so long since I've eaten Spam that I don't think I
could give much of a description beyond "vaguely ham-like
substance". Anybody else want to try?

Velveta is to real cheese as Spam is to real ham. Sort of a fast-food
version. I'd guess it's a lot higher in fat and sodium than ham, and
okay if you don't mind that. I eat a bit occasionally when I'm looking
for something different. But I stay away from Velveta (sp?).

Less taste, more shelf life. Spam is kinda salty, and has some kind of
strange meat jelly in the corner of the can sometimes.

BTW, this item proves that Grex is like an oyster:

When an irritating foreign object gets past the shell, a protective layer
starts to build up around the object, rendering less irritating. Some of
these obnoxious items even become "pearls" of conferencing. :)

Hard to think of Spam as a pearl of anything. I can't get past the smell.
I always think it smells like opening a can of cat food. (Now I can't wait
to hear all about those of you who think cat food is great!)

Valerie, the original Spam is enough to make everyon a vegatarian.

I disagree Audrey. I am another of those people who dig Spam, but only if
I'm in one of my southern cooking moods. When that happens, I crave things
like Spam, biscuits-n-gravy, cornbread, chicken fried steak, and fried peanut
butter and banana snadwiches.

Velveeta, on the other hand is evil.

I guess it all depends on where you come from on the economic scale. I come
from a middle class background, and generally will eat most anything.

Now I've went and made myself hungry, and we're all out of bananas. ;)

When I was growing up, we would (very occasionally) have Spam for dinner
as a ham substitute -- always baked, covered with brown sugar & surrounded
by sweet potatoes. More recently, when I was packing lunches
for two & making a week's worth of sandwiches for the freezer, I found
Spam to be tolerable but not good, and indeed salty. It was corn-free
and salt-free and had a long shelf life, but was also expensive.

Every so often my ex tries to serve Spam when the kids are over and they
have unanimously proclaimed it "cruel and unusual punishment" and refuse
dinner if that's the only choice. (or so I'm told. I find it hard to
believe that they voluntarily skip a meal, though.)

Ah yes, the classic Southern Spam: Brown sugar, yellow mustard, vinegar,
mixed and poured over a clove-spiked Spam cube, and baked for 45 minutes.
Recently I saw a low-sodium, lower-fat version of Spam next to the orginal
on the shelves at Meijer.
