The Good Times and the Bad.....of Gaming
|
Jun 30 06:47 UTC 2001 |
So maybe it doesn't fit the theme exactly (at all), but this has to
be here anyway.
So, what are you playing, who are your characters, what are they doing?

Well, while Jason is recovering (grumpily) in the hospital Alex seems
to be making eyes at his woman Maeve.
Piotr and Gwynne have been up late many nights now doing 'research'
(that's what they're calling it at least).
Faith has discovered the joy of sex and has been spending evenings with
Kol.
Petey is still carrying around a headless bear, though most of the
stuffing seems to be missing.
Robin is just calmly watching over her latest batch of children and
wonders when Roki plans to come home from Liane's.
(And in the background... Chain has been seen around Ann Arbor, and
word is out that he plans to work with a U of M professor, perhaps even
teaching a seminar... The Nephandi seem to be on the move again, the
boy from Isreal is still ducking Margo's radar, much to her
displeasure.)

Dude...now I can keep up with my game, even when I don't have time to talk
to people. :)
And Gwynne and Piotyr have been mostly doing research...really! And no, not
*that* kind of research.....

Honestly I've been spending more time converting sources from AD&D2E to
D&D3E than I've actually spent playing.

Oh, c'mon, Meg . . . they've got several projects going on . . . and
more than on lab to do them in.
I have to say, it's great that while we're all enthusiastic, and make
plenty of free time to do it, that it hasn't taken over our lives.
Although my mind can wonder towards it when bored.

And when not bored, or when two or more of us are in the room together, or....
One of these days I swear I'm going to have a conversation with Greg that
doesn't somehow involve gaming....or else I think he'll deck me. :)

Let's see... It's nearly June, the Petey-one is almost done with school
(and she couldn't be happier) and is attempting to avoid the trip to
Florida to visit grandparents that a short while ago she was so looking
forward to.
In other news, Gwynne and Piotyr are still at the research, though
given that they've come up with a few answers it would appear that they
really ARE researching, much to everyone's surprise.
Faith has been off visiting her older brother and sister-in-law, but we
expect her any day now. However, due to her absence she did miss
Maeve's fabulous display of 'A Woman Being Attacked by Spirits.'
Speaking of... the attack was quite successful- afterall, they got her
to pay attention to them. However... don't leave steak alone with this
woman, she has a hungry Timber Wolf to keep happy.
Speaking of hungry wolves... Alex and Jason have resorted to peace...
via simply not speaking to each other. Alex ignores Jason anyway, and
Jason (though he'd never admit it) is slightly intimidated by Alex.
Then again, Jason does remember which one of them Maeve is engaged to
and kinda lords it over Alex. Would they admit this was going on? Hell
no.
Chain is still in town, what the hell, is he moving in or something?
Anyhow, he spoke to the intrepid heroine Gwynne who tried the 'if I bat
my eyes and play clueless he'll go away, right?' idea, sadly he didn't.
I think he rather likes Ann Arbor, who knows when he'll leave?
Margo has been incommunicado with the lil Orphan Magies, but she is a
busy woman with so much to do- no time to even drop a note via e-
mail... so sad.
Oh, and has anyone gone looking for Nephandi lately?
More later...

My job is to search for the Tekkies....
Intrepid Heroine? I think the reason the eyelash batting didn't work is
because she had never tried it before in her life.

Devon Alek has managed to get herself a boyfriend now that she's
entered her mid-30's and despite being a facless name in the crowd.
I got a free copy of Diomin last night - it looks really cool.

I'm getting ready to run a Diomin adventure online. You know, this
item ought to be linked to amalgam, the roleplaying conference.

I dunno . . . we're not necessarily making this a serious item . . .
what is Amalgam like, by the way.
I think one of the bad things about gaming is running into folks that
use it to replace what's missing in their lives. In other words, those
who live it outside of game time. I guess that's why I think I would
not want to play LARP.

My problem with LARP is that it sometimes seems to pull people in that
might not *want* to be pulled in. Like innocent bystanders.

<nods> Yeah, that's a whole different level entirely. At least with
tabletop, the "innocent bystanders" or other NPCs are figments of
character creation and imagination. There's no real-life consequences
for what a player does with their character.

(yeah, tell me about it)
BIG NEWS!! ROKI CAME HOME!!
And there was much rejoicing... well, after people got over the Petey
Crisis...
What was the Petey Crisis you ask? Well, the little miss was lured into
another realm by her avatar, she was gone a couple hours... but when
she came back it was most apparent that wherever she was, well, it had
been more than a few hours there...
So now Gwynne (one of our Intrepid Heroines- yes she is, don't deny it)
has to cope with her suddenly 16 sister. Ah stubborness does run in the
family... Did I mention that Petey has a really odd sense of ethics?
She also has some really bad nightmares, though she's gotten better
about not waking people up because of them...
Maeve hasn't been seen much around the kitchen, but she's recovered
remarkably from her spirit attack. She's currently learning self-
defense, with Faith, from Tall and Scary (Alex) (well, Piotor started
calling him that! It's not my fault!). Jason isn't sure how he feels
about this, so he's not saying much.
Faith is just trying to figure out what's going on, well, that and
recover from having her mind turned to swiss cheese. Kol has been
hanging around the house again, though Gwynne keeps threatening to have
a Talk with him (though apparently the subject changes from time to
time). This time I think it has something to do with seeing a raven fly
in the house, I dunno.
On other fronts, Chain is still hanging around, though he does
disappear from time to time. The Nephandi seem to be back in their
places, save for the young'in from Israel... where'd he go?

Hey, Gwynne *SAW* him turn from Raven to Kol. That will be a major part of
the Talk, although she will be hitting on other subjects as well. :)

Well see, finding him at the house might not be hard (if Gwynne ever
leaves her room), but pinning him down long enough to talk to- that
might be difficult. <Grins>
And if you're using tinfoil as bait who knows if he'll actually hear
what you're telling him? ;)
