What makes you feel old

This is the item to enter all those little things in life that make you feel
rather old, even though you're still in-between childhood and adulthood.

(pribly the primary thing is that I'm older than the other four people
I live with, by more than a year. the secondary thing is realizing that,
when my girlfriend was graduating from high school, I'd already had
four roommates, moved out of my parents' home [twice], was working
jobs #3 & #4, owned my own car... and was no longer a teenager.)

My cousin's birthday was over the weekend, and when I went to send a happy
birthday e-mail and calculated how old he is, it shocked me because I remember
the day he was born and it didn't seem like *that* long ago.

I am not old. I know this. I feel like a big child because my parents won't
let me grow up. ugh.

When the words, "You're too young to watch this!" appear to be spoken by me.

There have been times when I've said things and then just was horrified how
much like my mother I sound...

I've generally thought my mother to be very sensible, so my saying
things like her doesn't really shock me that much. <Grins> Since
everyone knows how sensible I am.
What makes me feel old though, is reading things I wrote oh so many
years ago... remembering what I was like and how I get shocked and am
amazed that I was ever that 'young,' especially since I don't feel that
old usually.

When I lent notes to someone, seeing the date on the notes made me feel old,
because it doesn't seem like that long ago when I was suffering through...err
taking that class.

a few weeks ago I asked my boss how old somebody was. She replied "maybe 22
or so....not quite mid-20's". Shit....I hit 25 in a little under 2 months....

Tell me about it.
My mother told me "I was telling someone at school {she's working on a PhD.}
that your brother was going to be 30 this year... I didn't feel like that
was a problem until I realized that YOU were going to be 25 this year! Now
I feel old!"
Gee mom...me too!
