In the interest of not being so darned groggy in the morning, I've taken to
functioning for at least a couple of hours before my first cup. It's only been
a few days, but I can feel a difference already. Added bonus: I've turned to
water or fruit juice to quench the morning thirsties, both of which are much
better for me than coffee.

I stopped drinking coffee, but how do I wean myself off Mountain Dew? IT
isn't very good for me, but since I've stopped smoking I've neede it more
and more. I just don't think trading one addiction for antoher is right,
so any tips? I drink one whenever I get stressed out.

when you get stressed out and want to reach for the caffiene, try some
relaxation exercise techniques (meditation, visulization, etc). when you get
good at it, it only takes a few minutes to gain lasting relaxation.

Thank you. I think I will take your advice and meditate. My spirit and I
have to catch up on times anyway, so it will be very beneficial, and
hopefully more soothing than caffeine. Thank you for the advice.
I'll be checking this in a bit, so don;t be offended if I don't answer
right away.

If you need help along those lines, there are _scores_ of books at B&N,
Borders, Bargain Books, etc...or just check out the library.
One I can remember from my 'past life' was used in early
relaxation/concentration techniques in a low level acting class. The title
was "Sense Relaxation, Below Your Mind". It was written by someone in
California (Berkley, I think) but was later ripped off from my bookshelf by
either a former roommate or 'guest'. They musta' just liked the naked
pictures ;}

Thanx, Ricky, I am looking out for that title. Sometimes I try to chill
out and I just can't, Hafta move, Hafta go.
Talk to you all later.

btw, kitten, if you _do_ find that book, let me know. It would be nice to
replace it in my library (it is circa 1970-ish).

Alright, I let you know. Do you know the author by chance? Much easier to
find, but I can survive with the title.

Sorry, can't remember the author...I think he was a psych prof out of UC
Berlkey in the 60's-70's, hence the "be-low your mind..." in the title, and
all the group sensitivity games and such. Looking back, you might think of
this as a hippy era book.

I had a flu shot a couple of days ago. One of the contraindications was if
one were taking Coumarin or Theophylline. But nothing was said about the
fact that theophylline occurs in tea - it is related to caffeine (the
1,3,7-trimethylxanthine instead of the 1,3-dimethylxanthine). I meant to
ask if I should stop drinking tea for a bit, but forgot to do so, and
nothing untoward happened.

What is theophylline supposed to do to you if you get a flu shot? Isn't
Coumarin an anticoagulant. I expect the injection might bleed too much.

Yes, while theophylline is a smooth muscle relaxant and cardiac stimulant,
used to ease bronchial contraction in asthma.
