Screw size for cable connector tighten-down Mark Unseen   Mar 2 12:59 UTC 1995

Does anyone know the size of the tighten-down screws for the plugs on computer
cables? I certainly assume its metric. (I have a vernier caliper, but am not
that accomplished in determining the last digit, and it certainly would be
easier if I knew which measuring system we're working w. here. I know it's
a dumb question, it's gotta be metric, but affirmation would make me feel
better as I grope through the ambiguity of reading that last digit on the
vernier caliper. Of course, if someone knows the actual screw size, that
would be wonderful.

It's a 4-40. Standard, not metric thread,

What's the screw size for a typical IBM-clone *case*, BTW? Mine seems to
have screws that are a little smaller, held in place by tension rather
than threads. Bleah.

Held in place by tension? Guess being a screw is a high stress job.
Try a M-3 (metric, 3mm) or 6-32.

Yes, tension. Flex the case & they are apt to fall out.
