Omni's odyssey through Ohio ;)
|
Dec 29 00:00 UTC 1995 |
Ok, So I am *definitly* going to see Frieda soon, as in I am planning on
leaving Tuesday at 9am, arriving in Beckley WV at 1225 AM. Since I will
havea 2 hour layover in Cleveland, where Greyhound expects me to eat
dinner. So the point of this item is to gather suggestion of what I could do
for 2 hours in Cleveland and to find out if there are any decent restaurants
near the bus station. I expect to be in Cleveland from 2:30 to 4:30pm.
Also, if there are any Toledo/Cleveland/Akron/Canton OH grex types that
want to meet me, I'll be in Toledo around 12:25pm, Cleveland 2:30 to 4:30pm
Akron 5:35pm and Canton at 6:15 pm. I'll also be in Charleston for 30 minutes
starting at 10:45pm to 11:15pm. This will be on the 2nd, unless otherwise
noted, your mileage may vary, no refunds in the state of Indiana et al.

I was in Cleveland's Greyhound station one time many years ago. Unless
things have changed, you will probably want to brown bag your lunch and
stay put.

(I didn't even have to suffer through the movie. Just the comic adaptation.)

On second thought, I am not taking the radio. It's the technology thing.
The whole point of this trip is to forget that I am a ham, and have 2
computers and an account on Grex. I am taking my new camera, and should have
lots of pictures to document my trip with. I want to capture a sunrise, and
a sunset; Mountains and the people that live on them; birds and nature in
general.
Please use the rest of this item to plan a potluck. We MUST see these
pictures.

Take your radio. You never know when you're going to need it. You
might not want to take it out of your backpack, but take it along in
case you need it.
The Howard the Duck comic is the original: the movie was a sick
spin off.

Hey omni...I can give you a sunrise and a sunset...over the New river if you
like...I can show you people and places...I can give you the space to find
the animals if you are early enough and quiet enough...but I do have a
computer in the house...It can be off limits to you if you like though? Bring
the radio...steve is right...it never hurts and you never know when you might
need it to drown out other less desirable noises...see you soon!

Do take the radio. One St. Patrick's Day, stranded on ahighway outside
Baltimore, police wars whizzing past and ignoring us... the only reason we're
not still there is because one of the cars in the convoy had a ham radio, and
we radioed the local AAA. (They wouldn't help, though, 'cause our AAA card
was brand new, and not on their computer. Fortunately, our ham radio guy in
the car knew the guy at AAA headquarters in Detroit, and called him. half an
hour later, we had a tow truck. Heh.)

I can't do January 27, since I'll be out of town that weekend, but I could
volunteer to host it some other weekend.

Ok, I've thought about it and decided that I can host this potluck. How would
February 3 work for people? I could also do January 20, if omni is going to
be back that soon.

Well, if it's possible to go from here to your place, it should be possible
to go the other way.
