During my undergrad dorm days, we had a green-leafed spider plant called "phred" after the young Vietnamese character in the "Doonesbury" comic strip.

I named a plant Rambo once. I was looking for a plan that children couldn't kill. The latin name startred with an R and I couldn't pronounce the name. I shortened it to Rambo. I planted the plant 10 yeras ago and it is the toughest plant I have seen. No matter how much the children beat on the plant it continues to thrive. I will have to look for the latin name. I also have some rose bushes I planted that same summer all they are also healthy but I haven't given them a name yet.
